Maltese drag racing team Maksar Racing re-wrote the record books once again last weekend during a well-attended FIA racing series at the Santa Pod raceway in England.

The Main Event, as the series is dubbed, is the first round of the coveted European Drag Racing Championship and features the largest race entry anywhere in Europe, organisers said. In fact, over 250 teams and 15 race classes made the event unrivalled for both the quality and volume of racing.

One of the best ovations from the 25,000 spectators on Saturday was reserved to the Maksar Racing team when their truck lowered the previous world record to 10.44 seconds with a scorching run of 130 mph. The previous record, also belonging to the Maltese team, was 10.6 seconds.

The racing series at Santa Pod will be concluded today but Maksar Racing are planning to return to the UK for a truck show between June 28 and 29.

The team chiefs are also planning to participate in the racing series being organised by the Malta Drag Racing Association in August.
