The Malta International Grand Prix came to a close yesterday with the remaining 25 clays and the final barrage from the 125+25 trap competition, held at the Bidnija ranges over three days.

Nazzareno Attard started the day in first place with a score of 96/100. However, he lost form yesterday, allowing Italian Stefano Pennoni to go top on 118 points before the barrage. Both shooters targeted 21 hits in the final which meant Pennoni finished first with an overall 139 to Attard's 137.

Ugo Procacci, another Italian, was third on 133 and Andrea Diotallevi won a shoot-off for fourth place with Malta's Frans Pace after a similar score of 132. Kurt Cardona was sixth on 130 clays overall.

The competition attracted an entry field of 58 shooters including some from Italy, Moldova and Georgia.

Italy's Fuligno won the team event with 341 points. Malta were second on 326 and Napoli third, 310.

Maltese trio Cardona, Justin Attard and Ryan Bugeja won the competition for junior teams. Cardona was the best shooter in his category over three days. He hit 114 clays before the final.
