Walled in by new development

I fully concur with Joseph Micallef (May 22) in his plea to the Prime Minister and Mepa regarding the urgent need to protect the common citizen against the unscrupulous greed of some developers who don't give a hoot about suffering third parties, sometimes bringing about unredeemable consequences. A case in point is the recent development behind Triq Santa Marija in Marsalforn. A permit has been granted for a development that presents a massive injustice to the residents of this street as the way the new building is planned it will literally be touching the boundary walls, leaving no space for air or ventilation. In parts, this three-storey wall is going to be right on our own backyard walls! How can a permit like this, apparently in breach of all sanitary rules, be approved?

We have put in our urgent objections to the authorities and we are now expecting that these are immediately taken into consideration before more damage is done.
