• The Maltese Olympic Committee's medical commission is organising a regional medical seminar at the Aula Magna, Old University Building, Valletta, between Thursday and Sunday. It will cover topics such as anti-doping, sports medicine, sports science and physiotherapy. The seminar will be led by local and foreign speakers and leading practitioners in their respective field.

The seminar is of interest to medical and paramedical professionals and students, athletes, coaches and officials, physical education teachers and PE students, gym instructors and personnel from the health and leisure industry.

• Prof. Erika Szyszczak, Jean Monnet professor of European Law at the University of Leicester will deliver a talk entitled 'Will Competition Destroy the European Social Model? The Effects of the Treaty of Lisbon' on June 5 at 6 p.m. Booking deadline is Friday at 10 a.m.

• Prof. Robin C.A. White, head of the Department of Law, University of Leicester is delivering a talk entitled 'The Treaty of Lisbon: Some Human Rights Issues' on June 9 at 6 p.m. Booking deadline is June 3 at 10 a.m.

The talks are the third and fourth seminars being organised in this year's series by the European Documentation and Research Centre (EDRC) in conjunction with the Malta European Studies Association (MESA) with the support of the European Commission.

• A short marine biology course will be organised in July by Malta University Consulting's continuing education unit, consisting of three short evening lectures at the Foundation for International Studies (FIS), Valletta, spanning aspects of local marine biodiversity and conservation issues and two scuba diving sessions at Dive Systems, Sliema.

This is a foundation course for those aiming to delve deeper into marine biology later on or for those who simply wish to get acquainted with the Mediterranean marine biodiversity.
