A 43-year-old woman from Msida was remanded in custody after she pleaded not guilty to being in possession of and trafficking in cocaine and heroin today.

The court presided over by Magistrate Silvio Meli heard how police had discovered drug related material in Maria Vella’s apartment following a raid conducted there.

Earlier this afternoon, the police said that a 22-year-old woman from Valletta together with four men were also arrested in connection with the case. The men are between 30 and 33 years old and hail from Birkirkara, Valletta, Qormi and Naxxar.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted.

Lawyer Joe Brincat appeared for Ms Vella.
