Popular Italian singer Amedeo Minghi will visit Malta to join celebrations taking place on the Floriana Granaries on June 2 to mark the 62nd anniversary of the setting up of Italian republic and the 60th anniversary of its constitution.

This will be his second visit to Malta.

Minghi, who took part in this year's San Remo song festival, will perform in one of a series of activities taking place on the Granaries.

The activities will also include a 60-minute performance by the Roman choir 'Il Coro del Lunedì', which specialises in sacred, traditional music, and a musical programme by the Floriana Vilhena Band.

Four Maltese secondary schools that took part in the L'Italiano in classe annual competition will also present a show of singing and dancing.

An Italian military mission helicopter will fly past dropping tricolore flairs and a fireworks display will conclude the programme.

On Saturday and next Sunday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and from 4 p.m. to midnight there will also be music and stands with various products.

Minghi has recorded famous songs which include L'immenso, La vita mia, I ricordi del cuore, Vattene Amore, Cantare è d'amore and Come due soli in cielo.
