Voting is taking place to elect the local council at Mtarfa after the last Labour-controlled council was dissolved for not following administrative rules.

Just under a quarter of the 1,562 eligible voters had cast their vote by 1 p.m. Voting continues up to 7 p.m. to elect the five councillors who will make up the council. 202 voting documents remained uncollected.

The votes will be counted at Naxxar counting hall.
