A man was remanded in custody yesterday on charges of drug trafficking and possession and seriously injuring a woman in Birkirkara on Wednesday afternoon. Patrick Borg, 33, from Birkirkara pleaded not guilty to the charges, as well as to holding the woman against her will and threatening and assaulting her.

He also denied causing over €613.35 worth of damage to Alfred Camilleri's Toyota and driving dangerously.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi turned down a request for bail.

Police Inspector Elton Taliana prosecuted.

Lawyers Josè Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for the defendant.
