Sweets to DVDs retailer Woolworths said yesterday it was considering the possible sale of its stake in DVD publisher 2entertain, which is majority-owned by the state-owned broadcaster BBC.

"Woolworths Group Plc notes the recent press speculation regarding its stake in 2entertain," it said in a statement.

"The company can confirm that it is considering its options with regard to this stake which may or may not lead to a transaction."

The Daily Telegraph, without citing sources, said Woolworths had hired UBS to sell its stake in 2entertain, which it said analysts' valued at as much as £200 million.
