Newly upgraded simulators used in the training of mariners were inaugurated yesterday at Mcast's Maritime Institute in Kalkara.

The Grimaldi Group had donated €133,000 towards the upgrade.

The bridge and communications simulators provide essential hands-on training for mariners in the furtherance of their studies. Such training is required for work on any foreign trading merchant vessel.

The simulators were inaugurated by Emmanuel Grimaldi, co-managing director of the Grimaldi Group and chairman of Malta Motorways of the Sea Ltd, which has a cooperation agreement with the institute through which it supports the training of Maltese cadets.
