No plans for Opera House site

The government has taken no decisions on the future of the site of the Royal Opera House in Valletta, Austin Gatt, the minister responsible for capital projects, said in reply to a parliamentary question.

He told Labour MP Carmelo Abela that while various proposals had been made - such as the building of an arts centre, a parliament or a business centre - the issue was still under consideration.

The building has been in ruins since it was hit in an aerial attack in April 1942.
