The Ministry of Education has launched a new scholarship scheme for under-graduates and renewed the scheme for post-graduate scholarships.

Education Minister Dolores Cristina launched the schemes at a press conference, where she underscored the importance of further education.

She said the government was committing itself to granting scholarships to up to 150 undergraduates for study in Malta or abroad.

There is no cap on the number of students for the post-graduate courses, but the budget had been limited to €466,000. A total of 90 students benefited from the scheme for post graduate studies over the past two years.

The new undergraduates scheme is for students wishing to study abroad or in a recognised private institution in Malta.

Applications for the schemes are available from the customer care office at the Education Department in Floriana or from www.education.gov.mt/mgss ug.htm
