In custody for attempted murder

Emanuel Pace, 43, of Marsa, was remanded in custody this morning after pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of Ismael Obasa Hussein.

The incident happened in Marsa yesterday at around 3.25 a.m. during a brawl that involved several people.

The court heard how the victim had been stabbed seven times. One of the stab wounds punctured his lungs.

Mr Pace also pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Mr Obasa, being in possession of a pointed instrument without a licence, and swearing in public.

Police inspector Joseph Agius prosecuted while Dr Michael Grech and Dr Shazoon Ghaznavi were defence lawyers.
