The National League came to a close last weekend at Corradino.

In the first match Qormi got the better of White Hart with two first-half goals scored by Jonathan Borg when on both occasions he concluded set-ups by Steve Tanti.

White Hart did have their chances during the second half but they just could not put the ball away.

With this 2-0 win, Qormi consolidated their runners-up position, just one point behind champions Rabat.

In the second match, Young Stars were held to a 2- 2 draw by the ever-improving Sliema side.

It was Young Stars who drew first blood through a penalty stroke converted by Dave Evans. However, within minutes Sliema levelled the score with a well-taken penalty stroke by Shaun Mifsud. Just before lemon time Simon Baldacchino put Sliema ahead when he concluded a counter-attack with a thundering hit from just inside the shooting area.

In the second half, Young Stars went all out and took control. They equalised on 51 minutes thanks to a Marvin Vella goal.

Shawn Falzon is the league top scorer with eight goals.

The semi-finals of the KO will be played this weekend.

On Saturday, Young Stars face either Rabat or Sliema at 5 p.m. Qormi take on White Hart at 7 p.m.

The final will be played on May 31. In case of a draw a replay will be held on June 4.
