A Sudanese man was jailed for six months suspended for two years after he admitted to slightly injuring two police officers at the open centre in Ħal Far.

Lawal Ogbesoh Audu, 38, currently residing in Bugibba, pleaded guilty to threatening, resisting, assaulting and slightly injuring Police Sergeants Sergio Schiavone and Saviour Chircop on Wednesday afternoon.

The court heard Mr Audu apologise for his actions and add that he did not mean to harm anyone in the incident. After taking into consideration that Mr Audu had not yet committed any other criminal offences while in Malta, presiding Magistrate Michael Mallia handed down a six month jail term suspended for two years.

Police Inspector Priscilla Caruana prosecuted.

Lawyer Martin Fenech appeared as legal aid to Mr Audu.
