Who is the most famous and coolest cat in the world? Garfield! He is also the cutest, laziest, bossiest, greediest and most selfish cat! He was created by Jim Davis.

It all started in 1978, when a certain fat cat sauntered onto a comic page. Thirty years later Garfield is the most widely-syndicated comic strip in history, appearing in more than 2,500 newspapers around the world.

There are many comics and books drawn and written by Jim. I recommend you read or see them. Jim also produced a great many series of cartoons which are shown on TV, videos and DVDs, called Garfield and Friends which can be enjoyed by children of all ages. I recommend them to everyone.

Having conquered books and TV, the famous feline was ready to sink his teeth into movies. I'm sure many of you have watched Garfield movies. Two were shown in cinemas and there are videos and DVDs. In Garfield The Movie life couldn't be sweeter for Garfield, parked on an over-stuffed chair in front of the TV, feasting on his favourite dish, lasagne. He is master of his universe. That is until his owner, Jon, takes in sweet but dim-witted pooch Odie, who turns Garfield's world upside down. Now Garfield wants only one thing - Odie out of his home and life!

But when the hapless dog disappears, Garfield, maybe for the first time in his life, feels responsible. With an uncharacteristic amount of energy and courage, Garfield manages to pull himself away from the TV and spring into action. He's on a mission to save Odie and get his beloved chair back! In A Tale Of Two Kittens Garfield switches places with his lookalike, one of the Royal family's cats. It's purrfect!

In the movies how does Garfield walk, jump and act so well? He's really a man in a suit digitally downsized so that the people acting in the movie touch, talk to and cuddle an "invisible" cat!

In Garfield stories there are other cute, adorable creatures. Garfield's best friend Pooky the stuffed bear he rescued from the bottom of Jon's drawer many years ago who is a very good listener and is there whenever Garfield needs him. He never competes for food or Jon's attention and is always willing to relinquish the remote control.

No one knows Garfield's hopes and fears like Pooky, who isn't telling, mostly because he doesn't have a mouth. Liz is Jon's girlfriend, Nermal a stupid idiot but a good friend, Alene is his ex-girlfriend, Louis a cute mouse and the lovable creatures from Orson's Farm - Orson the pig, Roy the cockerel, Wayne the duck, Bocker the chick, Bubbles the sheep and his brother Bo and others including the poor mailman and Papa Luigi, Garfield's favourite person, who cooks a perfect lasagne!

In case any of you would like to see these loveable creatures on the computer, type garfield or garfield images and you can see a great many cute pictures and comics.

Never trust a smiling cat!
