Two corpses, 10 life jackets found at sea

Two corpses and 10 lifejackets were found at sea in two positions off Malta this morning, the AFM said.

The first corpse, which was not wearing a life jacket, was reported by a ship 42 miles west of Malta. An AFM patrol aircraft later spotted another corpse without a life jacket, and 10 life jackets, floating some 53 miles south of Malta.

The AFM also reported that an Italian Military Mission helicopter station in Malta this morning rescued a 29-year-old Tunisian fisherman who suffered head injuries while working on an Italian trawler some 54 miles off Malta.

The fisherman was given assistance by AFM Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel Robert Galea and hoisted on board an AB212 helicopter (picture) for treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.

Last Sunday evening it was very nice to see some of these immigrants manning the stalls at Kalkara. They were very polite and well mannered. It is indeed a pity that the EU is not doing its best to find a solution for these people.
Reading this article reminded me that the ones that we see in Malta are the ones that make it.......maybe we should spare some thought for those that do not.
