MUT lifts Mcast directives

The Malta Union of Teachers said this evening it was lifting directives it had issued to lecturers at Mcast “as a sign of good will and in consideration of students’ concerns”.

The lecturers had been directed to only deliver lectures, amid ongoing talks on a new collective agreement. Students had complained of being held “hostage” in the dispute, which has been dragging for months.

The MUT and Mcast officials held meetings yesterday and today.

The MUT said further discussions and consultations were required.

It was about time to realize that we students were the victims and actually we had nothing to do with the problem in discussion. I hope that something like this never happens again because as a student I can assure all of you reading this article that it was really frustrating not knowing what is going to happen with our studies.

Great, now the MUT should do likewise and end the directives at ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija for the benefit of the persons with disabilities.
