MLP condemns 'disgusting' Mistra emails
The Labour Party said today that emails purporting to show exchanges between a leading businessman, journalists and party general secretary Jason Micallef, are all false.
The emails are about the Mistra project and the involvement of Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando. They are supposed to have been sent before the election.
The MLP described the false emails as a disgusting attempt at intimidation.
The party criticised the Prime Minister and the PN for not acting against Dr Pullicino Orlando over his involvement in the planned disco at Mistra and said he did not deserve to be in Parliament.

If one takes up Mr Spiteri's suggestion of viewing the dates, he finds that the mails sent on the 19th Feb are entered as Tuesday 19th and subsequently on a Thursday 19th can a computer make such and error.. ?

For anyone to believe these silly emails is only a sad reflection of the gullibility of the people giving them such credibility. Unfortunately mud slinging seems to be a quality which is very predominant of, but obviously not restricted to, members of a particular political party. And they are paying the price for it. They will never learn. Sad !

The best evidence that the emails in question were not written by the businessman allegedly implicated is the poor standard of English. I know the gentleman concerned and there is no way he writes like that: he had the benefit of a decent education.

I guess the best and most objective way to proceed on the matter is to wait until someone, if any, comes up with the original emails. Until then all speculation is useless. If the emails are false, then let's say it will be another nail down JPO's political coffin, if however the emails are not fake but present facts, they are so damning that I will start wondering about sanity in this country! Right now the facts are that there is an ongoing police investigation on the Mistra issue. May I suggest that another investigation is carried out on the e-mails in question.

true or false, only the people involved know but one asks why did it take more than two weeks since these emails started circulating for the mlp to condemn the mistra emails? why didn't it do so immediately?

Good Mr Abela, so since you're qualified in IT too you should know how easily these things can be proven.
Emails have header files that track precisely all the pc's and servers that the mails travels through to reach destination. And if doubt arises about the content of the email headers, servers contain log files, that can be checked to confirm if a mail was actually sent or not. In the course of a police investigation these log files can be requested through a court order. Also, one has to log in on a mail server to send an email. This is usually done using a username and password. Dates and verifications of these logins can be verified in log files on the server.
So yeah, these are simple tools that can be used to verify the authenticity of an mail.
If you are really qualified in IT, you should be aware of this.

Labour should not be paranoid. It is glaringly obvious that those emails are fakes. Even my staunch Nationalist friends had a good laugh at them. The emails are not disgusting, they are silly, inauthentic hoaxes and should be treated as such. Don't swaet the small stuff guys.

@AAbela, one must also distiguish that the evidence against JPO, includes documents issued by MEPA itself, with JPO's own signature clearly visible. To compare such evidence with some email a 15 year old kid could conjure up wouldn t be realistic. Whoever is responsible for this email, really did a bad job at it, I mean he could have atleast chosen somone other than Jason Micallef as one of the principle targets (a not so well known Labour MP would have been a less conspicous choice). If there was anything whatsoever to this email, do you really think that the government would fail to capitalise on it by forwarding the said evidence to the investigation currently underway?

I know perfectly well too that the e-mail in question can be true, whatever anyone says.
What Mr. Attard must admit is that there is no proof to prove it fake, whilst on the other hand, there is no proof to prove it as being genuine.

Ok all the GonziPN expert investigators and know it all, please stand up, please stand up. Make the utmost out of this false issue to paint the MLP black again and again and raise winds against MLP so to distort attention on the real issue i.e. JPO and his direct involvement in the scandal.
Get a life and find something better to do in life rather than repeatedly spitting venom at MLP and clinging to every straw to deviate attention from the promises-breaking weak government.

Mr or Mrs Spiteri is right and I am sure that the new leader will give the MLP with a clear political direction in the best interest of the Nation. Who knows…. Perhaps the MLP could then agree on the paring in parliament and for example return properties being used still as MLP clubs in various localities like Msida and Siggiewi to their proper owners after that these same properties had been taken by the Housing Authority during the Mintoff Administration. Also to mention is the ex-Raffles and the Australia Hall in Pembroke from which a new Labour Prime Minister is probably expected to get thousands of Euro for property being left abandoned for years after the party got hold of such only by means of few pounds and lot of political maneuvers. The MLP can only be credible if the new leader make his utmost to settle old wounds and not just only be introducing ‘new’ faces in its administration.

Deriving attention towards MLP leadership is leading to nowhere ... in a couple of weeks time, MLP would be empowered with a new leader while PN would be still stinking & sinking with JPO still embraced in PN's arms!!!
