Ryanair extends priority boarding charge
Ryanair said today that web check-in passengers will no longer receive priority boarding free of charge.
Airport check-in passengers currently pay £4/ €5 for priority boarding (avoiding the queue), while web check-in passengers receive this service free of charge.
From June 3 Ryanair’s new web check-in/ priority boarding policy will be as follows: Web check-in will continue to be free of charge. Web check-in passengers will no longer receive priority boarding free of charge. Web check-in passengers will pay the same £4/ €5 fee payable by airport check-in passengers for priority boarding. All passengers can pay for priority boarding either at the time of booking or at the airport.
The airline said that also from June 3, it will introduce an online name change facility which will allow passengers to make name changes up to 24 hours before travel. This service was previously only available through the Ryanair call centre.

Dear Mr Abela
Please check again ,today, one way to Valencia on 26 june is 0 euro plus 47.32 euro taxes, but the return within a week is 69.99 euros plus 47.32 euro taxes and then add the "hidden charges".Why dont you take the offer.
I have been monitoring these offers and at no time this week could you manage a return flight with the amount you mentioned. These offers of 10 euro were for one way tickets on very particular days far apart .Lately they are adding 47 Euro of taxes.
You can fool some people some times, but you cannot fool all people all the times.
Pull my other leg .

Dear Mr. Grima,
I frequently travel on business to Manchester, and the cost of a return air ticket usually comes Lm 150. One wonders from where you arrive at the Lm 45 figure when the taxes and fuel surcharge amount to approximately Lm 45.
Prove me right, but in June, Ryanair's trip to Valencia on certain dates cost €20 return including taxes. Add baggage fee €30. add credit card fee €5.. that's €55. Can you go to spain with air malta for €55?
The day when you can is yet to come.

@ A.Abela....
I have frequently travelled from Manchester to Malta using Air Malta for approx. Lm45!!!! That is not more expensive than Ryan Air because when I taravelled a shorter distance to Malta from Luton with Ryan Air, the expenses including all the initial "hidden charges" came up to approx. Lm70! Plus with Ryan Air you have to pay extra for your food whereas with Air Malta the cost for food is included in the overall ticket price!
Now you mights have different statistics but, when comparing, compare with facts and not mere statements!

Having to pay a priority boarding fee will only effect those people going to Malta for a long weekend. The only people who received it free were those who checked in online, but to check-in on line you must have carry on baggage only. You have a 10KG carry on allowance which has to be used for your laptop, camera equipment etc otherwise they would not be there when you landed.
As for the checked baggage allowance of 15KG this is just another way Ryanair get money out of people. Ryanair say they are trying to get people into the way of having carry on baggage only. How do they expect someone going on a two week holiday to get by on a 10KG allowance? They know this won't happen and that people have to check-in baggage. By keeping their allowance down to 15KG they know that they can then charge people an extra £12 per kilo for anything over and above that.
So you have your flight cost plus your taxes and fees plus your baggage check-in fee plus your priority booking fee plus your extra baggage fee. Are you carrying sports equipment or musical instruments or equipment for a baby? Guess what. more fees!
I would fly Air Malta every time I come over because I believe they are a better airline and no more expensive than the so called 'low cost airlines'. Trouble is they don't operate direct flights from Northern Ireland or indeed Southern Ireland. Seems the people of this island are not deemen important enough to rate a direct flight!

despite all the charges, it still remains cheaper than air malta..

At this rate, Ryanair might as well start charging passengers for using the air in their aircraft for breathing purposes.

one would expect a decrease in the name charge since it would not be done through the call centre..
