Gunpowder Magazine (Porvlista) and the St John Demi-bastion at the Citadel are currently being restored and refurbished under an agreement between Wirt Għawdex and the Gozo Ministry. Recently, the Maltese Council of Culture and Art organised a cultural trip to Gozo. As part of the programme a group of 260 people visited these sites which are usually kept closed.

Giovanni Zammit, an executive committee member of Wirt Għawdex, said: "We are currently on phase 2 of the project which includes the restoration of the sites. The society is planning to have these sites officially opened this summer and it will be manned by its members on a voluntary basis."
