A British crewman who was badly burnt when a fire destroyed his catamaran in Marsamxett Harbour has now succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

The incident occurred on May 5 in the afternoon.

The man had jumped into the sea and been rescued by a passing yacht but his condition had been declared critical.

The catamaran caught fire as it was sailing out. Eyewitnesses has said there was a small explosion.
