It happens sometimes that visiting a city for the first time could be like falling in love at first sight. When special people fall in love with a special place something positive will certainly happen.
Valletta is a wonderful city and creative persons always remain captured by its energy and its charm. So this is the story of a project and a dream, something that conveys a powerful sign of love towards the city of Valletta.
It is evident that Architect Giovanni Trevisan has listened to his heart, to his creativity and to the spirit of the site, offering a project plan which can become a tangible solution to an old question that is still open after so many years.
The proposed solution for the Opera House suggested by Mr Trevisan has the great quality and virtue of respecting and incorporating the past while looking to the future.
This is a captivating attitude and the perspectives of "respect" and "flexibility" can be the winning ones.
The most interesting aspect of this new proposal is that it works in two reasonable ways: it gives value to the previous designs while, very flexibly, provides also room for change and growth, according to future needs and decisions.
The main entrance to the capital city needs to recuperate a balance and aesthetic value.
The proposal is also a gift for all the Valletta and Maltese citizens who will be able to express their thoughts and feelings about the project. Citizens are encouraged to think about how the site should be used.
I wish to see the site used for cultural activities. After much thought, discussion and controversy, the time is ripe to act now and to rebuild the site to its past glory, as one of Malta's cultural jewels.
