Works Department to set up Rapid Response Team

The Works Department is to set up a Rapid Response Team to deal with urgent maintenance works, especially in tourist zones, Resources Minister George Pullicino said today.

He said the department would in the future increasingly focus on maintenance, rather than major projects.

Maintenance, he said, needed to be timely and regular.

At the same time, the new team would deal with urgent cases, with a response time of a maximum of 48 hours.

The minister made his comments when he inspected works on a parvis at the new parish church of Sta Venera.

He said the work was the latest of similar work in 10 localities. Similar work is also under way in FGura.

The work in Sta Venera is due for completion in the first week of July.
