Updated account of 500 murders in Malta

Crime historian Edward Attard has published an updated edition of his best-selling book Delitti F'Malta.

The book features almost 1,000 pages of murders committed between 1800 and 2008, together with an account of the resulting trials.

In fact, about 500 homicides were committed on the island during this period. Statistics reveal a notable increase from the 1970s onwards, a trend also observed in other developed countries.

In spite of this, the island still has one of the lowest rates of killings. President Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici explains in his foreword to the first edition of the series that premeditated and sex-related homicides are rare.

The book is on sale at all leading bookshops.
