Fourth EIE centre opened in Georgia
The European Institute of Education (EIE) of Ta' Xbiex has started offering degree courses in the Republic of Georgia, which is an independent state that is eyeing both Natop and EU membership in the near future.
EIE Georgia is a joint venture between EIE International and Metekhi Public University, a state approved university situated in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi.
Professor Manon Kirtbaia has been appointed Head of the EIE Georgia Centre, and was given her letter of appointment by EIE International President Antonello Cappitta, who recently attended the inauguration of the premises. EIE Georgia will be operating as a business school within Metekhi Public University and will be offering management programmes in English and in the Georgian language to Georgian and international students.
Commenting on this development, Mr Cappitta said the new centre extends the geographic reach of the EIE into the borders of Asia. "We are confident that the new EIE Georgia centre will satisfy a demand for international business education courses that is so far lacking in this region," he said.
Both international and Maltese students can now follow joint programmes between EIE and Metekhi Public University, whose degree awards are recognised by the Republic of Georgia and by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) within the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Georgia is the fourth country where EIE is now established, along with the UK, the Czech Republic and Malta. During the second half of last year further centres will be established in the Asian Pacific Rim and in North America.
