Social benefits recipients

Social Policy Minister John Dalli told parliament that 2,250 single parents receive social security benefits.

Answering a question by Mr Chris Agius (MLP), Mr Dalli said that the majority, 117, live in Valletta followed by 98 in St Paul's Bay, 90 in Qormi, 84 in Zabbar and 71 in Paola. Mr Dalli also told Mr Agius that 6,969 people receive an invalidity pension, the majority, 410, living in Birkirkara, followed by 312 who live in Mosta and 306 in Qormi.

Those receiving supplementary assistance total 27,098, of whom 1,478 are from Birkirkara, 1,246 from Hamrun, 1,119 from Valletta and 1,012 from Zabbar.
