Police launch investigation into officers' conduct

Two years ago, in a period of two months, I reported 12 incidents at Qawra police station, of which it involves just to mention a few, hot chip oil thrown from the balcony above mine and another of being attacked with a broken bottle. No action taken against the culprit of these 12 incidents. All incidents involved just one neighbouring family.
To bring to everyone's attention, I put a billboard above the entrance to my block that read "Welcome to this shit hole". Guess what, I am being prosecuted. Did not hurt anybody, just a peaceful declaration. Where is Democracy.
Who hid my reports ar Qawra police station? Surely one would notice the bulge under the carpet. Is the law there to protect me? I wonder.

You will be surprised to find out how many Policemen in Malta do not know Criminal Code. Ask any Constable at your Police Station if he knows it. He will reply "I am not a lawyer to know law".

A couple of years back it was being studied how the ordinary citizen can call a Magisterial enquiry. It would be worth noting that certain incidents, such as a file of a political murder gone missing from the Police Commissioner`s office, cannot be reported to the Police, and it is neither appropriate to report such a thing to the Local Council Traffic Wardens.

I would like to hear all sides of this story before expressing an opinion - basically that is why an investigation has been ordered. Let us hear what happened before condemning Policemen who have to make instant decisions which not all parties (present or not) may agree with.

The solution is FORMATION and EDUCATION! Proper initial formation and equally sound on-going formation. We must be selective in the candidates coming into, and being accepted into, the Force. We have to give these candidates a sound formation programme and then, instil in them the necessary values and practices. Education, high-level education and proper salaries are the key to an efficient and proper Police force!

Such reports in the press of misconduct by our police officers are becomng too frequent to be ignored.

Like the hunters, a number of policeman are giving a bad name and shedding a bad light on the Police Force. Unlike the hunters however, the irresponsible and deplorable actions of a certain number of police officers is hindering the public trust. It is an alarming situation to have to be skeptical about the conduct of police officers and the integrity of the police force in general. The police commissioner or whoever is the top boss should really take control of this state of affairs and ensure that the police force in general is untainted and trustworthy.
