The Malta Environment and Planning Authority yesterday demolished a farmhouse built illegally in an Ouside Development Zone in Wardija.

The action was the culmination of a long process which saw the developer submit three development applications which were refused. An appeal was also turned down.

The developer also asked a court to stop the demolition but the request was denied.

The structure consisted of seven rooms, with the outside walls built using rubble to create a farmhouse effect.

Mepa officials said nothing had existed on site before other than low walls.
