Six weeks ago I underwent a Holter test and I was impressed by the efficient way the staff went about it.
When it was over I was given an appointment with the consultant for May 12. Having waited for two hours past the time indicated on my appointment card, imagine my surprise and consternation when the consultant informed me that my Holter test result could not be found.
After much scurrying and looking in various cabinets, I was told that it had not yet been delivered and "read" and that an appointment would be made for me again - in a month's time if by then the result would have been delivered. Upon my agreeing to this (having no alternative), I then discovered that the consultant, who is the person authorising the appointments, had left and upon enquiring of the nurse when he would be back I got a rather non-committal and airy reply - oh about 15 minutes.
At this stage and having heard at least three other people complain, I decided I could not be bothered anymore and informed the nurse that in case of my passing away they would have no problem in signing my death certificate.
I did ask the nurse if they would either write to me or phone with an appointment - but I am not holding my breath!
