All around the world, the Olympic Day Run is a great moment of sport, solidarity and celebration which, every year, thousands of people look forward to.

This year, runners will again be celebrating in their own way the creation of the IOC and the birth of the modern Olympic Games by taking part in a unique event which is more than just a run.

The Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) will team up with McDonald's and Athletics Malta to organise the run on June 22, starting in Buġibba. Participation is free of charge.

Official Olympic Day Run t-shirts and caps will be given to all participants, including a certificate signed by IOC president Jacques Rogge.

Applications are available at McDonald's outlets and from the offices of the MOC ( www.nocmalta.org ) in Tal-Qroqq.

Three running distances will be held on the day - 2.5K, the 5K and the 10K.

One may obtain more details by phoning the MOC on 21-332801.

Those interested in joining the cyclists may contact the Malta Cycling Federation on 7947-1935.
