Obituary

CAMILLERI. On May 13, ANTHONY F.X., of Sliema, aged 84, passed away peacefully at St Vincent de Paul residence, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Mary, his only daughter Margaret and husband Patrick, his grandchildren Russell and Emma, other relatives and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel, followed by interment in the family grave.
Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GALEA. On May 13, at Mater Dei Hospital, LUCY née Mazzitelli, aged 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Evelyn widow of Francis, Tony husband of Rose, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Maria dei Angeli church, Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
Lord grant her eternal rest.

MELI. On May 13, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAUL, aged 79, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Carmen, née Cassar, his daughter Alice, wife of Paul Fenech Gonzi, his son Joseph, husband of Michelle née Naudi, his precious grandchildren Andrea, Rachel, Antonella and Matthew, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Sta Luċija parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated.
Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Naxaar bazaar

A bazaar will be held in aid of the chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Naxxar from June 7 to 15 at 49, Main Street, Naxxar. It will be open between 8.30 a.m. and noon and 4 and 7 p.m.

Reef Club membership

The Westin Dragonara Resort said the Westin Reef Club will open on May 30, in time for the onset of the hot summer season.

Westin said they are offering different Reef Club memberships. Daily, seven-day, 30-day pass and seasonal memberships are being offered at "a very good price". Full seasonal members will also be entitled to discounts from Palio's, Quadro and Sun Bed Menu as well as free parking. In addition, one child under the age of 12 enters the Reef Club free of charge when accompanied by two adult seasonal members.

Argotti performance

Walter Micallef and Friends will be performing on Sunday at Argotti Gardens in Floriana at 9 p.m. The band features Renzo Spiteri on percussions, Walter Micallef as vocals and on the guitar, Jes Psaila on the acoustic guitar, Albert Garzia and Pawlu Camilleri on the mouth-organ and Eric Wadge on the bass. Tickets will be available at the door two hours before the performance.

Swimming, waterpolo lessons

The Birżebbuġa Aquatic Sports Club will be holding swimming and waterpolo lessons for children aged between 10 and 16 at the National Pool in Tal-Qroqq. Those interested can write to sjcutajar@nextgen.net.mt by June 13.

Paola school reunion

Football tournament

Poetry evening

The Għaqda Poeti Maltin, in collaboration with the Għaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti, will hold a poetry evening on Friday at 7 p.m. at Ir-Razzett Tal-Markiż Mallia Tabone, Mosta.

Boer war exhibition

Wayne Saillard's exhibition of items related to the Second Boer War at the University's library will run until the end of the month due to popular demand. The library is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The exhibit focuses on the chocolate sent to the British Empire's soldiers during the war as a New Year's gift in 1900.

Filming in Mdina

No parking will be permitted in front of the Greek Gate (except for Mdina residents and film crew) from 7 p.m. on Monday until 8 p.m. on May 28 due to filming. For the same reason, Magazine Street, Mdina will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. on Tuesday up to 8 p.m. on May 28.

Heidelberg Orchestra

The Heidelberg Chamber Orchestra will be performing on May 24 at 7.45 p.m. at St George's Basilica, Victoria. It will also be performing on May 25 at 7 p.m. at St Paul's Pro-Cathedral, Valletta and on May 26 at 8 p.m. at St Julians parish church.

The sub-post office in Triq Ġorġ Borg Olivier, Mellieħa will be closed for business between today and May 20.

Course for children on their rights

The office of the Commissioner for Children will be holding its annual children's rights course entitled Rights 4U. The course will provide those aged between 13 and 15 with the opportunity to explore human rights and children's rights during a live-in experience which will also help these young people to socialise, integrate and make new friends.

Children will learn and discuss issues related with children's rights, attitudes and values within a diverse world as well as respect and inclusion. During practical sessions, participants will be coached to develop critical thinking skills, responsibility and independence.

These workshops will be delivered by qualified and experienced social education professionals, emphasising not only the learning factors but also the social development factors. The Commissioner for Children, Carmen Zammit, will be present during the event.

The office of the Commissioner for Children is now accepting applications for the course. This will be held from July 11 to 13 in Rabat. Applications will be received until May 30.
