Last week a dog jumped into my car and refused to budge. I kept him for two nights in the hope of finding the owner. He made my car his kennel and was very quiet and never soiled it. He is a very docile, friendly and house-trained dog. I started campaigning to find this dog a home. I cannot think of anything else I can do.

I put him on TV, newspapers, put up posters everywhere, sent hundreds of e-mails, inserted pictures on Facebook and spent hours on the phone with sanctuaries. All the sanctuaries are full and he was refused by all.

I am baffled. Why do we campaign against cruelty to animals? I did my best to help this poor helpless creature but all I got are closed doors.

What am I being told? Turn a blind eye next time round? Do we really want these dogs on the streets, starving, being maltreated by somebody or being run over by a car?

A person with a heart has given me shelter for this dog up to Saturday, May 17. Then what if nobody offers a home? If anyone is wondering why I did not give him a home myself, I must point out that I am a proud owner of a loving dog and living in a flat makes it impossible to take him in because of the residents' regulations.

This is a cry for help.

The dog is a young brown tal-kaċċa type about two to three years old. I can be contacted on 7934 5840.
