It seems that stray dogs roaming around the streets are becoming a hot issue once again. For some time, this problem had ceased. But letters appealing for action to remove these dogs prove that it has returned.

I deal with this problem daily in Marsascala. It has become literally impossible to enjoy a walk in this area. In a week, I have been attacked three times by different dogs in different areas in Marsascala! One of them appeared out of nowhere and bit me. It was a big dog and I had nothing to protect myself with. Not all the dogs are strays.

Some of them have collars and are left to run around outside uncontrolled. Doubtless the latter belong to irresponsible owners who object to collecting their dogs' dirt.

I expect the matter to be taken more seriously by the authorities. Stray dogs tend to gather in packs and become even more dangerous. I dread to think what would happen if any of the dogs were to assault a mother with a baby or a little child. Should we continue to live under this constant threat of harassment?
