The 2007/2008 football season in Gozo came to an end with the final of the GFA BOV Super Cup contested by champions Nadur Youngsters and cup winners Qala St Joseph.
Qala left their best for the second half as they beat a lethargic Nadur side 3-0 for a surprising but deserved victory to claim their second honour in a space of a few days.
There were few scoring opportunities at both ends of the pitch in the opening half. Nadur's best chance came from a calibrated Alex Simoncic free-kick that hit the post.
Qala opened the score on 73 minutes through Manuel Cordina. He won a loose ball in the Nadur box and placed easily behind Xuereb from close distance.
Nadur were stunned and ten minutes later Dione Lautier doubled the score with an angled shot following a Joe Xerri pass. Lautier sealed the issue two minutes from time with a third goal scored after pouncing on a rebound.
After the match, Jack Theuma, BOV Manager in Gozo, in the presence of GFA president Joe Cordina and other officials, presented the trophies to Qala.
