During Saturday's Time Trials at Tal-Qroqq, two new marks were set, a national record and one in the age-group category.

Ryan Gambin, the Maltese-Australian who has qualified to represent our country at the Beijing Olympic Games in August, broke the eight-year-old national record held by John Tabone in the 200 metres individual medley by 0.43s when he clocked 2 minutes 16.40 seconds for the four-lap race.

Young Nikki Muscat came on the scene with an excellent 28.98 seconds in the 50m free to clip 18 hundredths of a second off Talisa Pace's previous Group C limit set last year.
