Argument over smoking lands man in court

An argument over smoking in a restaurant landed a man in court this morning.

Anthony Bartolo, 47 of Qormi was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,329 after he pleaded not guilty to trying to seriously injure Alexander Taliana at Incognito Bar and Restaurant in Bugibba on Sunday.

The court heard that Mr Bartolo had allegedly been smoking in the bar and Mr Taliana repeatedly asked him to stop smoking or leave.

Mr Bartolo allegedly started a fight and took a swipe at Mr Taliana with a flick knife, but did not hit him.

Lawyers David Camilleri and Jose Herrera appeared for Mr Bartolo.
