Our young and talented Gżira mayor or someone from his team decided to stop traffic from going to Triq il-Madonna tal-Ġebla from Triq San Albert instead of dealing with the problem of delivery persons and clients double parked down the road to render or be rendered a service from a detergent shop at the corner of Triq il-Madonna tal-Ġebla.
This road is closed on school days during the morning and afternoon. On numerous occasions I have seen both local wardens and policemen shouting at and giving tickets to motorists as they drove through this road during these hours.
However, none tried to deal with the double parking issue, not even the local council for that matter. Clearly a case of two weights and two measures.
This is a major inconvenience to all nearby residents of upper St Albert Street who are surrounded by three school premises and have to drive two blocks, amidst the heavy traffic, to get to the pelican lights at Kappara roundabout.
