Charles Gauci MD, FRCA, FIPP, was recently elected Foundation Fellow of the newly formed Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists of England.
Dr Gauci, a graduate of the Royal University of Malta is a consultant in pain management at Whipps Cross University Hospital, London and at Queen's Hospital in Essex.
He is also a member of the executive board of the World Institute of Pain (WIP) - responsible for administering all the National WIP sections and was also chairman of the UK Section of WIP.
Dr Gauci is a member of the examination board for the FIPP Diploma (Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice). He was elected an honorary member of the International Society of Laser Assisted and Percutaneous Spinal Surgery (ISLAPS) in recognition for his work on chronic spinal pain problems and was recently invited to join the executive board of this academic society.
His textbook, Manual of Radiofrequency Techniques, has been translated into Spanish and Korean.
Dr Gauci also has a worldwide reputation as a teacher of interventional techniques for the management of chronic pain.
