Use your Land Rover responsibly please

Land Rover promotes responsible, eco-friendly off-roading.

Recognised and respected around the globe, Land Rover shares its drivers' interest in the world and the people in it. The marque upholds a global promise to help preserve the environments its owners explore. This sense of environmental responsibility extends from the manufacture and design of Land Rovers to the promotion of eco-friendly off-roading, besides taking on a variety of initiatives for good causes.

A distinguished Land Rover associate, the Royal Geographical Society supports research, education and training for the advancement of geographical science. Like Land Rover, the society aims to promote a greater appreciation for environments around the world.

In an effort to increase awareness of and promote a cure for Parkinson's Disease, the Longitude Expedition is currently circumnavigating the planet. The vehicle of choice is a certified pre-owned Land Rover Discovery.

The latest endeavour of charitable organisation Drive Around the World, the Longitude Expedition introduces educational programmes, facilitates the exchange of ideas, and supports Parkinson's research while completing a nine-month trek around the world.

Land Rover takes an active role in instructing drivers about environmentally responsible off-roading. Land Rover's off-road code offers travellers helpful guidelines:

• Be aware of different travelling regulations in different countries, and always seek permission to cross private lands;

• Stick to existing routes;

• Drive carefully to minimise erosion and damage;

• Drive as slow as possible and as fast as necessary;

• Engage the difflock, if available, on low-traction surfaces to minimise wheel spin and road damage;

• Proceed slowly around animals, or switch off engine and waiting for them to pass;

• Fully prepare your vehicle for the journey with appropriate tools and supplies;

• Use eco-friendly cleaning materials, washing vehicles away from water sources, not in them, and take all litter back with you;

• Respect the peace and tranquility of others; and

• Carry out a safety check when preparing to go back on the road.
