Skateboarding enthusiasts will today be showing off their skills during the first competition held at the Tal-Qroqq skate park.

The warm-up started yesterday when skaters practised their moves during a free skate session held in preparation for today's Luzzu Cup Skateboarding Competition that is being organised for the first time by the Malta Skateboarding Association and Freeway surf stores.

A team of five professional skaters from the DC Shoes European Skate Collective came to Malta especially for the event. Jody and Sean Smith from the UK, Anthony Lopez and Georges Agonkouin from France, and Spanish Ruben Garcia and Adrian Morales demonstrated their pro techniques to the local skaters who will be competing in the beginners, advanced and best tick categories.

All local skateboarders are invited to participate in the competition. Signing up starts today at 11.30 a.m. Competitions will be held all afternoon and be followed by a prize- giving ceremony.
