Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information Chris Said, met members of the Gozo Business Chamber, the Gozo Tourism Association, unions and the Gozo Curia to introduce himself and to give an overview of the various responsibilities that fall within his remit.

The main objective of this meeting was to discuss the setting up of a regional committee for Gozo within the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD). Dr Said explained the role of the MCESD as a tripartite body primarily dealing with national issues of economic and social importance.

He also said that the government would be once again setting up the Malta-EU Steering Action Committee (MEUSAC) and its functions would include the channelling of information and public consultation on EU directives and legislation.

Dr Said emphasised that the aim of the regional committee was to promote wider and more focused discussions on current and specific issues in Gozo.
