A 28-year-old man from Paola pleaded not guilty to stealing a computer and €600 (Lm257.80) in cash from a house in Paola.

Magistrate Michael Mallia heard Jason Gatt plead not guilty to stealing a computer worth €908 (Lm389.80) together with a monitor, keyboard and a cash box containing €600 (Lm257.80).

Police Inspector Spiridione Zammit told the court how Mr Gatt has a drug problem and needed assistance. He added that Mr Gatt's father refused to have him home while his mother refused to let her son leave.

After considering the circumstances Magistrate Mallia granted Mr Gatt bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 (Lm429.18).
