Adrian Buttigieg, chef de partie at the Hotel Phoenicia in Floriana, has been invited to attend the World Association of Chefs Society Congress 2008 to be held in Dubai next week to compete for the Hans Bueschkens Trophy.
At 21, he will be vying for the Best Young Cook In The World.
The competition is a practical cookery test called a mystery box challenge.
Mr Buttigieg is the only Maltese chef participating in the event which will be held at the Sheik Rashid Hall of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Mr Buttigieg was declared winner of the Junior Chef of the Year 2007 in the Malta Kulinarja Cookery and Culinary Arts Championships late last year.
