No transmission rights for Roberto Benigni show

In his letter Where Was TVM? (May 1) Leo Portelli stated that PBS should have transmitted the show by Roberto Benigni.

PBS did not have the transmission rights for the show and the University made it clear that it was open to all and free but not for television transmission in Malta. This was also made amply clear by the representatives of Mr Benigni and is standard practice with the majority of stars performing in Malta.

PBS therefore had no choice but to limit the service to the press conference and news bulletin features.
