The Medical Tennis Association (Malta) is organising its annual championship for doctors and dentists in the coming weeks. Applications are to reach Dr Pierre Sammut, association secretary, by not later than May 25.

MTA members will this year participate in the World Medical Tennis Society tournament, to be played in Croatia in September. Those wishing to take part are to inform the secretary as soon as possible. The top two seeds in the association's list, Matthew Mifsud, the current champion, and Luke Bonello, will compete in Croatia. Mifsud and Mark Formosa have entered the doubles tournament.

The Gordon Asciak Tennis School, in conjunction with the Marsa Sports Club and national coach Rob Tarpey, recently organised a tournament for juniors. The 70 participants were split into different groups according to their level of play.

Helene Pelicano, Miguel Galea, Sara Gatt, Robin Marshall, Angele van Hear, Liam Caruana Montalto, Luke Hammett, Timmy Aquilina, Yanica Gusman and Melanie Valenzia were among those who left their mark in what was a successful tournament.
