A 28-year-old man of Luqa was jailed for six months and fined €465 (Lm199.57) after he was found guilty of trafficking in ecstasy.

Marlon Bugeja of Luqa was found guilty of trafficking and being in possession of 25 ecstasy pills on June 5, 2006.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard that Mr Bugeja was found in possession of the drugs at a party in Paradise Bay, Mellieħa. Mr Bugeja testified that he had purchased the pills for his friends and was planning to consume the pills with them.

The court said it found Mr Bugeja’s version of events not believable and ruled that the evidence produced by the prosecution showed that Mr Bugeja had been trying to sell the drug to other party-goers.
