Labour urges cooperation in waste management scheme

Labour environment spokesman Roderick Galdes has urged the public to help make the separate waste collection scheme a success.

Under the scheme, launched earlier this week, separated waste – metal paper and plastic – is collected door to door on Mondays in Gozo and Tuesdays in Malta.

Mr Galdes welcomed the fact that the Resources Ministry and the Association of Local Councils had reached agreement for the early introduction of the scheme - noting that the majority in the association is composed of Labour councillors.

He augured that the government would be able to keep up the momentum of the scheme and also implement the recommendations of the national waste management strategy.

I am sure that Roderick Galdes' remarks are appreciated by all including the councils run by Nationalist councillors.
He should go one step further and encourage the Labour led councils to make sure that they operate within the law so that there will be no repeats of the Mtarfa sorry affair.

Yes, it is very nice and Galdes has given a good example. I hope gonziPN now follows the same example and stops discarding, or even worse, riduculing, everything MLP says. Then, maybe, we MLP supporters shall also become speechless.

Very refreshing to see the Opposition finally agreeing to something which is beneficial to OUR country.

How very refreshing to see someone from the MLP actually work for the good of the country without just looking for ways to oppose the Government. Well done Roderick Galdes.
I must admit, I am almost speechless. This is something I always wanted to see in Malta. Having Dr Sant out the way may be a very good thing for this country in my book.

It's so refreshing to see both our major political parties striving for the betterment of Maltese society.
