Five held over drugs find

Three men and two young women were arrested by the Drugs Squad after "significant" quantities of cocaine and heroin were found during a raid at a flat in Sta Venera late on Tuesday morning, the police said.

The raid followed days of observation by Drug Squad officers who noted trafficking activity in the area.

The ages of those arrested varies between 17 and 33 and they hail from Msida, Birkirkara and Sta Venera, the police said, adding that the suspects are expected to be charged with drug-related offences in the coming days.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona appointed a team of court experts to help in an inquiry.

Investigations into the case continue.
