A Żabbar man was yesterday charged with having been in possession of heroin close to an establishment frequented by young people.

Jesmond Cassar, 33, was charged with possessing the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his exclusive use. He was also charged with possessing a large amount of the drug valium on September 17, 2005.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano presided over the arraignment.

Police Inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted.

Lawyers Josè Herrera and Veronique Dalli were defence counsel.
